i received an sms last night from ozzie himself saying on saturday he collapsed and had to be taken by ambulance to hospital.. he is being operated on again this morning (wednesday 29/6/05 australia time).
as usual with the particular operation he is having there are serious risks.
i ask his friends to send anything positive his way today.
I hope everything goes well.

minimus's post got me thinking.
where would i be if i were still a jw?
it's depressing to think about...
If I would've kept my JW religious zeal intact, and based on my previous affiliations and contacts in there, there's no doubt in my mind that I would've been right about now serving in Bethel or perhaps traveling as part of the worldwide construction team.
Quite a few of my previous 'tight' friends that's what they are now: Bethel or doing construction work all over the world.
In this respect, I must admit that sometimes I've regretted having fallen from JW grace.
Sometimes I feel like "who the heck cares if they're right or wrong!", I should've just continued playing their tight 'til I worked up to a high position where I'd never have to worry about having a nice car, lodging, health care, and given the best by all other members. Darn!!! You know how sweet a life all those traveling overseers lead? It's nice, I tell you! Even the misionaries and those worldwide construction workers are all taken care of quite well!
Okay now, let me come off my cloud now. I'm living quite well not and taking care of business on my own.

i see how the wt & awake, km, and other publications are really dumbing down, and never really relay any useful information above a second grade school level.
i wonder just how many writers are needed to write this crapola?
i mean think of how easy it is to research information on the world wide web, and then think of the shitty dumbed down articles that you find in the wt society's periodicals
I notice a lot of repetition and information recycling in the WBTS publications. I'm sure it doesn't take a whole lot of people or creativity to put together their publications.
I could be wrong, though, as I've heard from Bethelites that their writing dept. is quite large in each of their branches.
DY
what is the dumb reason behind that?
is it satanic too like horoscopes and thanksgiving?
Bad question to ask on this board.
Lots of biased opinions, starting with mine.
I can just tell you that they're very stubborn about the various celebrations' roots.

cons.
i don't know who is scarier, the jw's or some people on this board.
man, r u guys bitter?
Smelly Onions,
The only suffering I did for being a JW was while growing up and being ridiculed by other kids in school because I upheld my beliefs.
JW children aren't the only ones singled out in this way. Many other faiths and cultures experience the same.
Now that I'm all grown and older, I've learned to see life in a much lighter side and thus no longer fit the firm JW culture all the way.
However, my relatives and many other JWs I've known all my life are among the nicest, most decent people there are and I don't want to lose their connection. So, I'll do a little sacrifice in terms of few meeting attendance and little knocking on doors here and there. No big deal.

There are many in the currect congregation which I attend. The older ones seem caring while the younger ones with family (small children) seem indifferent.
Now there's a job I don't want. They've to deal with their own issues and their family's issues, plus everybody else's in the congregation?! No way!!!
DY
i don't know how many of you knew this, but i've been looking for a job.
i submitted an app to a local burger joint, and one to a really good chicken place called zaxby's.
i had an interview yesterday at the burger place.
Hey, a job is a job! Congratulations! Keep up the good work!
Make good plans to move up and progress in the working world, though.
Take care,

i did the fade two years ago and have found this board helpful.
just want to say thanks.. mil
Welcome Mil!
I'm trying to do the fading, but it's nearly impossible with my husband and most of my relatives being such devoted JWs. I'll achieve it one day. Hopefully soon!
Not bitter or hateful towards the WBTS, just came to view it as just another religious organization with strict rules I do not always want to follow.
Be well.

my motivation was not to "recruit" for the watchtower society.
i thought i made it clear when i stated that i am no longer one of jehovah's witnesses anymore and that i am on your side.
however, the impression i am getting is that no one is really understanding what i am getting at.
I really like how young children learn to read and give parts from the platform. By the time they start school, some already know how to read and write quite well for their age.
So many children of Hispanic roots forget their language or don't learn it properly because they lack the necessary communication in that language.
Due to the constant exposure with the 5 meetings, and the participation that is expected of these young ones, they learn to read/write/speak Spanish perfectly. It's awesome to see, really!

has anyone ever seen a situation where the wts disfellowhiped someone who is autistic, retarded or otherwise mentally challenged?.
i wonder if the elders give them more leeway knowing that they are not always capable of making decisions as well as a normal person.. .
Never seeing or heard of a mentally challenged person ever getting baptized, much less disfellowshipped. Either act would be wrong, imo.
